Message from Mrs. DeGrand: (New!) Dear Families, Welcome to Trimester 2! On December 1st report cards were sent to inboxes at the email address on file in powerschool. If you did not receive your student's report card, please let me know so we can get that to you. THIS Standards Based Grading companion document will be helpful in providing context when reviewing the report card. 2023 is around the corner and Principal Washington (Woodland Meadows) and I are toying around with the idea of a Heritage and Woodland Meadows Fun Run/5k to kick off a healthy new year. Before committing time and resources to organizing this event, we are wondering what the interest level is for an event like this. Please help us by taking this short interest survey HERE. Thanks! Have a great week ahead and please reach out with any questions or concerns. In partnership, Megan DeGrand
This year's 4th-grade general music concerts will be on Monday, February 6. Please plan for your student to attend this special event so they can share what they're learning in music class with your family. There will be concerts at 5:30, 6:15, and 7:00 pm in the Heritage Cafeteria. The backup date (only in case of a snow day) will be Wednesday, February 15. Here is a list of which classes will perform at each concert BUT if a student has a conflict, they can attend at a different time. Students should wear something nice. Any questions can be directed to Mrs. Hayes. Thank you! Monday,February 6, 2023: Heritage Cafeteria

Message from Mrs. DeGrand: (New!) Dear Families, Winter has arrived! Please be sure your student has outdoor apparel appropriate for the weather forecast. We will go out to recess each day, unless it's raining or the temperature dips below 10 degrees F (windchill included). Is your student missing a coat, sweatshirt, lunchbox or water bottle? It might be in the Heritage "Lost and Found" (located just outside of the cafeteria). Please stop by to take a look during Parent-Teacher Conferences on 11/21 and 11/22. All items will be donated following conferences. Finally, I am filled with nothing but gratitude for the community and staff I get to work alongside. Thank you for all of your support and kindness during these first few months of school. And thank you for sharing a piece of your heart with us at Heritage each day. We love each and every individual in our Heritage Swarm. I hope you enjoy the week and are able to connect with family and friends. *Please Note:

1 = Indicates that a student needs individual support frequently to complete an expectation. 2 = Indicates that a student is progressing as expected. 3 = Indicates mastery in an area. For Trimester 1, "2" indicates that your student is progressing as expected in a class. The student has met the individual tasks in each area; however, there is still more curriculum to cover that has not yet been evaluated. Since specials classes assess the same standards throughout the year, the majority of students cannot yet demonstrate mastery of a standard that will be taught throughout the entire school year.

SAS Sex Education Advisory Board News: (NEW!) Dear Saline Area Schools’ family: As part of the required regular program evaluation cycle, the SAS Sex Education Advisory Board surveys families to gather their input and feedback regarding the sex education programming offered in Saline Area Schools. Similarly to previous district surveys, the Saline Area Schools will work with their data collection partner, K12 Insight, to gather this information. The parent/family survey will be sent with a direct link via email on November 15th to the primary contact listed in our Powerschool database. This survey will close on December 9th. If you do not receive a survey, you can contact the research team at [email protected] who help administer our surveys. In addition to gathering this information from our families, we will also be issuing a survey to High School students to gather their perspectives from their experience with the SAS sex education programming. If you would like to view the High School student survey, please follow THIS LINK. To opt out your High School student from taking the survey complete THIS FORM. If you would like more information on the sex education programming offered in Saline Area Schools, please visit the curriculum section of the district website HERE Thank you in advance for your input in helping us to evaluate our educational programming.
