A Note from Mrs. DeGrand... (New!) Dear Families, Happy Labor Day Weekend! It was a fantastic first week at Heritage School. Thanks for your partnership and patience in navigating a brand new school year and routines as we reinforce being respectful, responsible and kinder than necessary each day. The 4th and 5th graders are off to such a great start! A few procedural things to note... 1. There is a small table in our lobby that acts as a "quick drop station" if you need to deliver something to your student during the school day. Please label the item with your child's name a teacher (post its and pen provided) and use the call button to the left of the door to alert the office staff that you have made a drop. 2. If you are coming into the office for any reason, please be prepared with your child's name and teacher. For the safety of our students and staff, the office staff will be communicating through our speaker and video system before buzzing you into the building. If the office is busy, this may cause a delay. Please plan accordingly when picking students up to leave early. We are working hard to balance daily office duties while ensuring the safety and security of the building. Thank you for your patience and help with this. 3. During drop off and pick up, please pull as far forward as you can in the loop. Your student will walk to your car and enter curbside. Stopping at the flag pole/Pavilion slows down our dismissal routine. Thank you for your cooperation. We are excited to announce that Heritage has adopted a standards based reporting system and report card for 2022/23 and beyond. For our 4th graders, this is not different from how students were assessed each trimester in grades Y5-3. Fifth grade students have had a one year pause and will now resume standards based reporting this year. Please take a moment to review THIS companion document for understanding how your Heritage student will be assessed and graded this year. Feel free to reach out with questions or concerns. *Please scroll to the bottom of this blog entry for important news from our Heritage PTO. Thank you, https://www.lawnbombs.com/washtenaw ! A Note from Mrs. DeGrand... Dear Families, We are very much looking forward to having our halls filled with students on Monday. For safety/security/spacial reasoning, parents and families should not enter the school building with their students (unless there is a prior arrangement with the classroom teacher and you have been checked in at the front office). There will be plenty of staff spread out to help students find their way to lockers and classrooms. We will take great care in getting your student to their designated area and set up for a terrific first day of school at Heritage. If you are doing drop off or pick up at Heritage, please know that traffic will be heavy. As everyone is getting into the new school year routine, we need your help and patience to help things run smoothly. *Please scroll to the bottom of this blog entry for important news from our Heritage PTO.
