Principal's Message: Welcome Week! I am excited for a busy week of all things Welcome Week! Emails with Class Placement information were sent Thursday, August 27th. If you did NOT receive a class placement email please call the main office on MONDAY (734-401-4100). We are very lucky to have hired 3 [new to Heritage] teachers on Friday. If your student was assigned to one of those classes, you will receive introduction letters on Monday. Thank you for your patience in our process for adding to our team. The Heritage staff is looking forward to seeing many of you at our "Meet and Greet/Materials and Device Pick Up" on September 1-3. Your child's classroom teacher will be reaching out to schedule your Meet and Greet time soon [if they haven't already]. If you are a returning Heritage student, who still has checked out library books from our media center, there will be a cart on site for returns. Mrs. Clark is looking forward to getting more resources returned to prepare for Media this school year. Each day this week you will receive an email with a virtual task and resources. Here's what you can expect this week:

Dear Heritage Families, I feel so fortunate to work alongside Saline Area Schools Staff who have been tirelessly planning and anticipating the start of this unique year. Our Heritage Team is an amazing group and I could not be more proud of the work we have done to get ready to meet our students and deliver quality instruction. As a mom of three young boys in our school district, I can appreciate the anxiety that goes along with navigating the nontraditional path we seem to be on for this year. That said, I am committed to supporting you through this journey and our staff is prepared to take good care of your student(s). Each Sunday, you can expect to receive an emailed “Heritage Highlights”. This blog post will provide information and updates for Heritage School, as well as a few things happening around the district. This has been a successful communication tool in the past, and our teachers and office staff are also available to answer questions that may arise throughout the year. Many families are anticipating the delivery of teacher placement information. Now that we have reviewed student learning preferences and staff teaching preferences, we are working hard to match students who preferred virtual/in-person teaching models with teachers who preferred the same. Well-balanced classrooms that create optimal learning environments for all students is also a priority. Thank you for your patience in this process. We expect to email class placement information on August 27th. The week of August 31st - September 3rd is our On-Boarding/Welcome Week! Your child’s teacher will reach out to you to schedule a meet and greet with a small group of students. You can also pick up your child’s device and learning materials at this time. If you are unable to come at this time, please reach out to the teacher to reschedule. I am looking forward to a UNIQUELY AWESOME school year with our Heritage SWARM. I can't wait to see your fourth and/or fifth grader(s) very soon. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Times are tough, but so are we! In Partnership, Megan DeGrand Assistant Principal's Message: Hello, Heritage Families! I am so excited to be working with you and the Heritage Staff. This is going to be a very unique year but I know that we will still have a lot to celebrate. I hope to meet as many of you as possible whether that be in person or virtually. A few things about me are I spent most of childhood in Ann Arbor and I still live in the area with my husband and dog named Oscar. After graduating from Ann Arbor schools, I went on to attend the University of Michigan to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and English and a Master of Arts in Educational Studies. Then I taught Spanish for 6 years and afterwards I transitioned to administration. I am honored to be continuing my career in education in the amazing community that is Heritage Elementary and Saline Area Schools. When I am not working you can find me walking my dog at a local park or downtown Ann Arbor. If I am not walking I am probably spending time with friends and family, eating out, catching up on a TV show, or reading. Thank you for such a warm welcome. Let’s make this a great year and don’t hesitate to reach out! Sincerely, Musetta Deneen On the Heritage Horizon:
